Panel data analysis using Stata

[3 half days] - [starts on 16-05-2024 at 09:30] - [English] - [Formation online]

Are you conducting a longitudinal survey? In other words, have you collected data at different points in time, hence called longitudinal or panel data?

The mixed models are a family of models with both fixed and random effects. They make it possible to take into account the correlation between several observations, in particular the longitudinal aspect of the data.

Training aims
This course provides an introduction to the analysis of panel-data. At the end of the training, participants will be able to use Stata effectively for manipulating and analyzing panel-datasets, to understand the error components model and the issue of unobserved heterogeneity, and finally to implement most commonly used linear panel-data estimators.

Prerequisites
By registering for this training, you commit to a level of knowledge equivalent to the following training(s):
Data management and analysis using Stata

Content

We will apply the theoretical content with exercises in Stata.

Location
Formation online : Online Training via Teams -
Our trainer will contact you by e-mail before the beginning of the training session to send you the connection link and any useful documents.

Here is some additional information that we ask you to read now: If you haven’t done it yet, please download the Teams application (Here is the link to download Teams). For example, this will allow you to be able to share your screen with the trainer if you get stuck during an exercise.

If the training involves the use of data analysis software, you should preferably have this software on your computer in order to take full advantage of the training. For UCLouvain members, you can find out about the availability of the tool from the IT department via the service catalogue (https://servicedesk.uclouvain.be -> SelfService -> Catalogue de service). Depending on the software, a solution may possibly be found if you are unable to get the software installed on your computer. However, this is not the most comfortable way to participate in the training. And we must also anticipate this. So please let us know if this is what you intend to do.

Attendance
The training is open to all but requires prior registration.
