The second university study cycle ("licence") programme in Religious Sciences prepares lay students to teach religion in secondary schools or for other responsibilities in the Church, at the same time as ensuring solid theological training for candidates to priester-hood. The "licence" degree entitles access to the teacher-training programme ("agrégation") which leads to the teaching of the catholic religion in all the teaching networks in Belgium (cf. study programme for the "agrégation" in Religious Sciences). It also initiates students into personal research in the subjects they will be teaching, via lectures on specific questions, practical seminar work and the writing of a thesis. |
||
The students who fulfill the conditions required by ecclesiastical law, will be awarded the canonic degree of Bachelor in Theology (Sacrae theologiae baccalaureus) . |
Students with a first university study cycle diploma ("candidature") in Religious Sciences are entitled admission to the "licence" programme in Religious Sciences. University "licence" degree holders may be admitted to the "licence" programme in Religious Sciences via a special programme (cf. study programme for the"licence in Religious Sciences" - a programme designed for holders of a "licence" degree in other disciplines). |
The University admission and enrolment procedures are detailed on the web address under "General Information" : http://www.ucl.ac.be/etudes/libres/acces.html |
The "licence" programme in Religious Sciences covers two years of studies, each of which consists minimum of the 330 hours of compulsory lectures and practical exercises given during the corresponding academic year. The 120 hours of options can be freely spread over the two academic years. The second year of studies will include the presentation of a thesis. |
The choice of options must be communicated to the Faculty secretary by 1st October, at the latest. |
||
The students enrolled on the first year (RELI 21/BA) will inform the Faculty secretary, within the deadline fixed for the enrolment for the January session, of the subject of their thesis and the name of the promoter. The Bachelor programme Committee will take note and make known any observations they deem necessary during their January meeting. Students from the Faculty of Theology may not enrol on another cursus in another Faculty without the authorisation of the person responsible for their principal programme. This authorisation must be requested at the beginning of the academic year. |
