Aims

The objective is to learn to read a work in dogmatic theology, to write a well documented exposé, demonstrating personal discernment, and to present it in public; to propose relevant questions on a chosen theme; to answer questions posed in a well-argued manner; and to evaluate a theological route travelled during a whole term.

Main themes

The theme of the seminar is taken from one of the various dogmatic questions (God, evil, our final end, etc.). After a few introductory meetings led by the instructor, each meeting involves: (a) the presentation of an analysis by a student; (b) its discussion by all participants. The final evaluation of the term's work is written individually and discussed during the last meeting.

Content and teaching methods

The Seminar of 2005-2006 will discuss the problems of death and hereafter.

Other information (prerequisite, evaluation (assessment methods), course materials recommended readings, ...)

Evaluation: Students are graded not only on their oral exposé and written text, but also on their level of participation in discussion.
Material: During the first meeting, the instructor sets out a bibliography on the chosen theme.
