Aims

The course seeks to familiarize the student with the Pentateuch and the historical Books. It will teach the student to recognize literary genres and their use in history and theology. It will also refer to the major stages in exegesis.

Main themes

Research work and contemporary debates concerning the history of the composition of the Pentateuch and Deuteronomic History are presented, along with a look at the Chronicler's work. The course also involves reading some major texts using contemporary methods, taking care to point out the axes of theological and anthropological reflection.
