Aims
The course will aim to introduce students to a concrete analysis of religious or
Assimilable (whether they are recognised as such or not) phenomena in forms in which they grow or develop in the contemporary social and cultural context.
Content and teaching methods
Students will initially be enabled to identify conceptual elements and appropriate elements of the subject. These will be centred on an understanding of 'religious phenomena', and of their evolution in relation both to cultural and social changes and to the demands that these changes impose at the level of the actors' economy or social subjects. They will then, and most importantly, be compared with concrete observation materials that have been selected for didactic and representative purposes at different moments in the present period, with a view to exploring and identifying ways of using these materials that are appropriate to an implementation of the outlined issues. The observations made will result in students sketching various explanatory perspectives that may sustain, or identify, concrete research in the current social and cultural context.
Other information (prerequisite, evaluation (assessment methods), course materials recommended readings, ...)
At the end of the course, students will be asked, using concrete materials of their choice, to demonstrate their ability to implement conceptual, methodological and problematico theoretical elements developed during the sessions.
