General structure of the programme

The programme covers all the History of Philosophy courses (except the Arabic Philosophy course) not followed in the first study cycle ("candidature") and 270 hours of courses to be chosen from the list of the "licence" courses on Philosophy (including group X) in such a way that at least one course from each one of the groups from I to VIII is included. Group IX is compulsory, except for the students who have already followed a course on Religion.

It includes, among other features, the writing of a thesis on a philosophical question. The language for all academic work for the students is normally French. Other languages may be chosen on condition that the lectures have given their approval. In the case of the latter, the procedure to follow is available at the ISP secretary's office.

This study programme may be followed in one, two, or three years. The length will be determined together with the approval of the Study Committee.

N.B. : The courses which constitute the prerequisite for this programme and the History of Philosophy course may be followed in the context of the University Certificate in Philosophy : Foundation Studies(ISPA9CE).
