Aims
1. - to be able to draw the philosophical conceptions underlying the education theories and practices.
2. - to be able to analyse the discourse and practices in education institutions in order to draw their education project and to assess it in the light of sense and of a value systems.
Main themes
Content: the various fields in education (famly, school, out of school, in specialized institution, initial or continuing education) will be studied from various angles: anthropological, epistemological and ethic. These various perspectives will be built by referring to the contemporary trends in philosophy, without neglecting the reference to the great philosophers of the past.
Method: afer a lecture aimed at introducing to education philosophy, the students will develop their object of study contingent on their own questioning (theoretical problems, practice analysis, etc.) Work groups will be gathered on a common theme. The results of the personal works in group will be presented and discussed in the seminar.
Content and teaching methods
The course introduces to three major dimensions of education philosophy: anthropological, ethic and epistemological.
On this base the students will have to choose among a set of practices and education theories, those they will study thoroughly in a research group. The aim is to draw the underlying philosophical conceptions in order to discuss their sense and values.
The result of the group works will be presented in order to draw the discussion with all the students of the seminar.
At the end of this process, a report is written it contains an introduction and a conclusion emanating from the group discussion, and as many chapters as there are members in the thematic group (max 10 p. by student). This report will allow an individual certificative evaluation.
