Aims

By the end of this course, the student should be able:
1) to analyze, both from a historical and a systematic point of view, a question from the area of religious studies;
2) to articulate his or her own position with relation to the question;
3) to use, in an interdisciplinary manner, the research tools of philosophy and of religious studies.

Main themes

In the spirit of the ISP, the course attempts a rational reflection on certain aspects of religious experience. The aim is to direct the students attention to some recent works in systematic theology and to introduce them to the questions and tensions that occupy the border between philosophy and faith.

Pre-requisites:
None.

Assessment:
Oral exam at the end of the quarter based on writings by the student on a question of his or her own choosing related to the subject matter of the course.

Supporting material:
A bibliography will be distributed at the beginning of the course.

Course Holder/Course Supervision:
The lecturer will be happy to aid the students in their preparation of their individual work for this class.

Means:
Most of the works to be consulted can be found either at the ISP library or the Theology library.
