Aims
In this course, the student must confront philosophical texts on art (or on aesthetics issues). The aim of the course is to help the students develop their skills in reading, exegesis, interpretation, and critical commentary of key texts in the philosophy of art and/or aesthetics. The course is meant to prepare the student for following, and participating in, the current philosophical debates in this field.
Main themes
Each year, one, two, or at most three authors and a representative selection of their texts are chosen as the basis of the course: we shall read these texts so as to arrive at an explanatory and critical commentary on them. The authors chosen can be from any period in the history of philosophy.
