Aims

By the end of this course, the student should be able:
to analyze in depth a particular issue of philosophical anthropology;
to grasp the interdisciplinary dimensions of the issue discussed;
to relate the issues discussed in class to contemporary scientific developments.

Main themes

Although the content of the course changes each year, the aim is always to address anthropological questions through a study of key Modern or Contemporary philosophers, highlighting the currency of their thought in addressing the questions facing us today. In previous years, for instance, we have studied the questions of empathy, of the pathological presumption according to the analysis of Dasein, of corporeality, etc.

Content and teaching methods

The lectures, for this year, will be devoted to the study, in Michel Henry's work, of the relationship between life and culture.

Other information (prerequisite, evaluation (assessment methods), course materials recommended readings, ...)

Pre-requisites
A basic grasp of the history of philosophy.

Assessment:
An oral exam. The exam will be based on the content of the course and on a question chosen and developed by the student.
