This tab contains a series of digital resources on the history of justice. Here we find the “classic” legal subdivisions (to be precise : the legislation, doctrine and case law) to which are added the volumes of judicial statistics in pdf.

At present, the legislation includes :

  • The Fifteen Codes of Edmond Picard (1926).
  • Circulars from the Ministry of Justice (1795-1827, 1830-1902, 1905-1914 and 1919-1970).
  • Various Belgian and colonial judicial organization laws.

The doctrine reproduces the "Mercuriales" of the Court of Cassation and the Courts of Appeal from 1830 to the present day. Those prior to 1913 as well as the most recent are available in pdf format. This summary table is accompanied by a search engine allowing in particular to filter by author or to carry out a search on one or more words of the title.

There is also a “Journals” sub-menu which houses legal journals “belgians” and colonial. Colonial legal journals are accessible, subject to an authorization to be requested via the contact.

The submenu jurisprudence houses the six volumes of La jurisprudence belge depuis le 10 may 1940. There is also a link to the case law of the Court of Cassation.

A submenu statistical volumes provides these in pdf format. An inventory of the contents of these volumes is also available.

Finally, the archives house the correspondence between the colonial magistrate Jean Sohier and the Reverend Father Hulstaert. It is a body of 26 letters testifying to the relationship between the church, administration territoriale, judiciary and local populations.
