The team is led by Pr. Philippe Chatelain who has acquired an wide area of expertise in the development of high fidelity turbulent flow simulation tools along with their application to fundamental problems as well as more applied ones in bio-propulsion, aeronautics and wind energy. It gathers together both junior and senior researchers whose leading-edge fields of competence range from state-of-the-art turbulent flow modeling to advanced control systems design.

The WakeOpColl team can further build upon more than 40 years of active research history in the fields of energy and fluid mechanics acquired by the iMMC/TFL division. The research activity carried in iMMC/TFL has, amongst others, led to the development and validation of efficient high fidelity turbulent flow solvers offering significant insight into the structure of turbulent flows .
