Study objectives

The second university study cycle ("licence") consists of pluridisciplinary studies fosusing on the observation and comprehension of social phenomena of work in their globality. This programme addresses people who have already acquired basic training in "candidatures" or in higher education, or those who, through their professional commitment or their interests, wish to acquire complementary knowledge based on sociological, economic, juridical, organisational and work management aspects.

Admission conditions

The " licence" in Work Sciences comprises two years of studies and is accessible :

- to holders of a university first study cycle diploma ("candidat"), or a higher non-university long cycle study diploma ;

- to diploma holders of higher non-university short cycle such as :

  • social assistants and social advisors;
  • higher non-university study diploma holders ;
  • nurses and "educators" ;

- people whose professional assests are recognised by the admission jury on the basis of a special procedure including a test to verify their capacities.

Holders of another Belgian university degree may have access to this programme and benefit from a considerable number of dispensations in accordance with their previous studies (the cycle may be reduced to one year of studies depending on the case).

Holders of a diploma of a short cycle of higher non-university studies, as well as "candidats" of higher long cycle of non-university studies, will be subject to a test to verify their capabilities.

Admission procedure

Applicants for this programme will attend an information session. These sessions are organised from March to the beginning of September. They will hand in a questionnaire to apply for admission at the Institute of Work Sciences. Candidates with a foreign nationality (except for Luxemburgers) will also introduce an application to the central secetary's office for students : place de l'Université 1, 1348 Louvain-la-Neuve.

TRAV 22 Second year of studies

The second quadrimester may be heavy due to the seminar and to the completion of the end of course thesis. Thes students will therefore endeavour to go as far as possible during the course of the first quadrimester.

After completing the "licence" programme in Work Sciences, the students may obtain the teacher-training diploma for secondary school teaching, organised by the Faculty of Economic, Social and Political Sciences. The other departments of the Faculty offer cycles of studies especially destined for students already holding a "licence" diploma from the Faculty. Certain possibilities also exist in other faculties.
