Statistical maps
Thematic maps, i.e. representing one or more statistical variables, are an essential tool for analyzing spatial data. They correspond to a common type of illustration in publications, be they scientific or for the general public. In order to ensure that the map message is statistically correct and the bias controlled, several rules (arising from ‘graphics semiology’) must be followed.
