Aims
The main aim of this receptive course is to develop students' reading and listening skills.
Reading comprehension
. at the end of the course the students should be able to:- understand short, simple texts on familiar matters of a
concrete type which consist of high frequency everyday or job-related language.- find specific, predictable
information in simple everyday material.
. Level A2 of the " Common European Framework of References for Languages "
Listening comprehension
. at the end of the course the students should be able to:
- grasp the main point in short, clear, simple messages and announcements.
- understand and extract the essential information from short, recorded passages dealing with predictable
everyday matters which are delivered slowly and clearly.

Usage :
(1) reinforcement of basic vocabulary + vocabulary building
(2) grammatical and lexical difficulties
Main themes
Course description
The topics addressed during the classes aim at arousing the interest of young adults. We shall speak about leisure, studies and future professions, daily life and contemporary events, relations with others and culture (habits and customs) of the countries that speak the target language..
The grammatical and lexical difficulties covered are :
- tenses (active voice)
- modal auxiliaries
- link words
Content and teaching methods
- Code and title : ANGL 1840 - English: Remedial Teaching
- Year of study : PSP Bac 1.
- Number of hours, rhythm, terms : 15h, 1h/week, 2nd quadrimester.

At the end of the course students are expected to have reached an A2 level (Common European Framework of Reference for Languages) in the 2 following skills: reading and listening.
- Evaluation : exemption test; continuous assessment and written exam.

Methodology
. In class
- Reading comprehension exercises (analysis and comment on the texts, reading techniques and strategies,
comments on language points).
- Additional lexical and grammatical exercises.
. Self-Tuition: Students will have to
- study the basic vocabulary reference book (regular tests in class)
- prepare the texts that will be covered in class
- listen to audio-video programmes and prepare the corresponding activities
- do additional lexical and grammatical exercises.
