External configuration

The cerebellum has three surfaces:

Anterior surface

Visible after resection of the cerebellar peduncles

  • Fourth ventricle
  • Cerebellar peduncles
    • Three pairs: superior, middle and inferior peduncles
    • The homolateral cerebellar peduncles merge as they leave the cerebellum
    • Superior medullary velum: unites the two superior cerebellar peduncles
    • Middle cerebellar peduncles: the largest
  • Medullary velum
