EARTH SURFACE DYNAMICS PHYSICAL GEOGRAPHY
Our research explores how geomorphic and hydrological processes redistribute and transform carbon, nutrients and sediment across landscapes, and how these lateral fluxes change in response to land use and environmental change.
We combine field observations, biogeochemical measurements, Earth observation and modelling to trace these processes from soils and hillslopes through floodplains and river networks. Our work ranges from individual landscapes to entire river basins, with links to Earth-system modelling. A major focus is on sensitive landscapes, such as peatlands and tropical environments (e.g. the Congo Basin).
