The programme aims to complete existing studies in the second cycle by means of a short (one year) second cycle course in Anthropology and Sociology. This short course adequately completes studies accomplished in Journalism, Political Sciences, Economics, Law, Sciences, Philosophy or in other subjects. In all cases, it helps the students open their mind to rigorous reflection on the social and cultural phenomena that characterise contemporary societies. In this course, countless graduates find a fine complement of humanity and rigour. |
The programme gives the student insight into basic theoretical content in the two subjects (Sociology and Anthropology) : the fundamental concepts and the history of the concepts are taught on the core syllabus. In the "options" part of the course, the programme objective is to allow the student access to specialised lectures in one or another of the two subjects. Finally, the programme provides for a rigorous initiation into the methods of one of the two subjects, together with the application thereof, via an operational seminar on Sociology or Anthropology. The training programme is crowned by the writing of an end of course thesis with the help of an experienced researcher. |
The Master of Sociology and Anthropology is a one year programme, accessible to university graduates (from the programme which prevailed before the beginning of the academic year 2004-2005) or to students from long training programmes from Institutes of Further Education who wish to acquire a short training in Sociology or in Anthropology. |
The programme may be requested to be spread over two years for special reasons. |
For those students who did not follow the basic programme in Sociology or Anthropology during their previous studies, possible prerequisities may be added to the master's course. |
The regular conditions and admission procedures are specified on the WEB page " Access to studies" :

Applications for admission or complementary information must be addressed to the Secretary for Academic Studies of the Department of Political and Social Sciences. |
