Aims

The development of a multidisciplinary and critical viewpoint on psychological approaches to the theatre. The establishment of a dialogue between the various disciplines falling within the scope of what is very broadly termed 'psychology' (including in particular clinical anthropology, psychoanalysis, comparative ethology and ethnopsychiatry) and the creative talents, both practitioners and theoreticians, of the theatre.

Main themes

Drama (compared with other forms of acting). The question of personality splitting, and the actor's paradox (the mask, the character, etc.). The power of verbal and non-verbal language (magic, trance, cathartic effects, creation of a social bond).

Content and teaching methods

Teacher-led course, supported by video documents, and if possible testimonies from theatre professionals. Personal research work into a subject defined every year, to be presented orally at the exam.
