Aims
The aim of the course is to familiarise the students with the basic notions in health psychology in a wide sense, thus including clinical psychology and psychopathology, and to show them how these concepts are used in the analysis of clinical situations.
Main themes
The course is organised according to the "bio-psycho-social model". The major principles of the following topics will be presented:
a) "the antecedents": stress-trauma-emotions; personality-temperament; biological-genetic basis; psychosocial-demographic factors
b) "the mediators, moderators": social support; coping strategies; perception of the emotional situation
c) "the issues, criterions, results": mental, physical, social health; quality of life; subjective well-being
d) "the prevention, intervention, remediation": social vocational support; evaluation of the interventions
The concepts are introduced with many examples and "clinical" situations. They open the way to the themes more particularly tackled in the courses "Clinical interventions 1 and 2". Some clinicians-researchers are invited so that the course will be close to the considered professional fields.
