Aims
At the end of the instruction in medical psychology, the student must have acquired an intellectual opening to the relationship doctor-patient in the field of human sciences. However, that knowledge isn't only intellectual but also needs skills, which means "how to act" and "how to be" in the doctor-patient relationship.
Main themes
The lecture of medical psychology introduces the student in medicine, psychology, dentistry to the relationship doctor-patient. Each year, the students choose about ten themes in relation with the discipline (for example: the seduction, the adolescence, the ageing,...). A lecture is organized from that specific choice and it is illustrated by pedagogical documents (testimonies, interviews, film extracts,...). It is also followed by a discussion with the audience.
Content and teaching methods
Each year, about ten themes among thirty are chosen by the student.
These themes all introduce to the discipline. For example : the different ages of life, the seduction, the ageing, death,...
On the basis of that choice, the teacher organizes a theoretical lecture which is illustrated by videos and interviews and which
refers to a bibliography of the chosen themes.
Both aspects, theoretical and practical, are essential to the comprehension of the subject.
At the end of each lecture, students are invited to react by asking questions or debating.
