Aims

This course is the continuation of the course of Methodology in 1ère licence (FOPA 2130). The aim of the course is to give an initiation to the process of research and to the various methodologies. As the descriptive statistical approach has already been presented, the stress will be put here on the qualitative approach.

Main themes

1° The different stages of a research approach. Development of the stages problematisation (disciplinary point of view and theoretical framing) and of the building of hypotheses.
2° Typologies of research and technics. The specific articulations between methods and technics of research will be presented.
3° Critical approach of the method and of the results of research (internal criticism; external criticism).

Content and teaching methods

Content :
Initiation to the process of research and to the various methodologies : the different stages of a research (stages of problematisation and of hypotheses building); typology of the research and of the technics, articulations between methods and resarch technics; critical approach of the method and of the results of the research (internal and external criticism).
Method :
Lectures on these matters, in alternance with practical works; use of the tools and scenario of research situation.

It follows educational methods fitted for adults including the link between theory and practice, group work, formative assessment and steps of individual and group appropriation of the contents. Illustrations from the various fields of education and from adults formation : continuous education, specialized education, school field, etc.
Summative evaluation on a research project built in sub-groups showing the ability of the students to imagine and to build a scientific research object and to propose the most relevant tools for empirical observation.
