Aims
Acquisition of principles and oral and written practice of musical analysis of paper texts (music scores) and pure hearings (without visual support). Capacity to publish review texts (of CD and/or concerts).
Main themes
Analyses-revisions - to start with - from the great Classical-Romantic repertoire (from about 1780 till about 1850) followed by historical extension to the periods before and after.
NB. The programme varies from year to year.
Content and teaching methods
Historical introductions and detailed analyses of music scores from different periods from the Middle Ages till today. Privileged field : the accompanied soloist singer outside the opera, for example : German Lieder of the 19th century, French melodies, and very important orchestral works (from Bach till Messiaen).

Reading of the classical treatises on musical analysis (Spalding, Hocleir,...) as well as the Fayard " guides ".
Oral and written presentation of two assignments about important (non lyric) music scores (one chosen within the field studied that year, the other outside of it).
