The IP Networking Lab of Université catholique de Louvain organises a graduate networking course on Thursday Sept. 4th, Monday Sept 15th and Tuesday 16th in Louvain-la-Neuve, Belgium.

The course is composed of two parts :

1. Design of a Large-scale Networking Experimental Platform (LEP) : presented by Maoke Chen,Tsinghua University

For new Internet architectures, simulators and in-lab experiments are necessary but not enough to verify their feasibility and performance. Since the emergence of PlanetLab, large-scale networking experiment platform based on slice computing is considered essential to the innovation environment for future Internet. In this graduate course, we will discuss the problems facing the designers of such a platform and then illustrate possible solutions, taking the example the 6P-UOA system that we have designed and deployed in China.

The audience will learn how the 6P-UOA platform works and how one can utilize it to deploy works for research purpose. We also identify several challenging topics in the large-scale platform design, according to the experiences of running such a platform for more than 2 years, and introduce some early works regarding to these challenges.

2. Evolution of the Internet architecture, presented by Olivier Bonaventure, Université catholique de Louvain

In this part, we will describe the recent proposals to evolve the Internet architecture. This includes HIP, shim6 and proposals such as LISP, ILNP or 6/ONE that are being discussed within the IRTF Routing Research Group.

Additional information including registration information is available from http://inl.info.ucl.ac.be

Note that registration is compulsory and attendance is limited to 30 persons.
