On completing the Master in French and Romance Languages and Literatures : General, students :
- will be able to undertake an in-depth analysis of both old and modern French texts, as well as the history of French and European literature. In this way they will be able to assess the special features in the history of Belgian literature and culture and where it stands in relation to the contemporary Francophone scene ;
- will have an appreciation of all aspects of language, from both a diachronic and a synchronic perspective ;
- will be able to express themselves, in writing, using French in a clear and structured way, using specific vocabulary as well as tools for the organisation and cohesion of discourse ;
- will be able to express themselves orally in French with fluency ;
- will have gained both oral and written competence in the use of one Romance language (Spanish or Italian) at Level "B2+" of the Common European Framework of Reference.
