Admission

Student must hold a first level university degree.

Provide proof of a sufficient level in French (B1 of the European Framework of Reference ).

Student must have developed, in the two Germanic languages that he wishes to include in his programme :
– passive communicative skills (oral and written) and active communicative skills (oral and written) equal to level « B2+ » (‘high advanced level) of the Common European Framework of References;
– linguistic skills (the study of grammar and its structures);
– literary skills (history of literature, analysis and interpretation of literary texts);
– broad cultural skills (the study of the 'civilisation' of the countries where the two Germanic languages are spoken: historical data and contemporary reality).

If the student does not demonstrate the passive and productive communicative skills, he must pass a level test organised by the programme committee.

In the absence of courses providing basic training in one of the three other skills (linguistic, literary or cultural) in his previous course of study, prerequisites will be added to the student's masters programme (without exceeding a total of 15 credits).

In the absence of courses providing basic training in linguistic and/or literary and cultural skills, access to the master is subject to the student passing the Teacher Training Certificate (upper secondary education) - Modern Languages and Literatures : German, Dutch and English [30.0] the programme of which is established based on the student's file.

Course equivalences are submitted for approval to the chairman of the jury, the secretary of the jury and the academic faculty secretary.

General observation on the choice of languages studied :
The Master in Modern Languages and Literatures : German, Dutch and English involves the pursuit of studies in the two Germanic languages included in the bachelor programme, whether they were studied as a major or minor.

Examples :
- A Bachelor in Modern Languages and Literatures: German, Dutch and English (Dutch-English), who has taken the minor in the third German language (Dutch), includes in his master programme two of the three Germanic languages studied during the first level.
- A Bachelor in Modern Languages and Literatures : General (Germanic language + Romance language), who has taken a minor in a second Germanic language includes in his masters programme the two Germanic languages studied during the first level.
