Teaching method

Retour en début de pageStrong points of the pedagogical approach

  • The programme offers strong specializations, ‘classic’ functional specializations (Marketing and Finance) and cross-disciplinary specializations (Supply Chain Management, Innovation, Environmental Management, Entrepreneurship) which are specially adapted for the Business Engineering programme. Students are also encouraged to strengthen their specializations by doing the dissertation in the same discipline ;

  • This training follows on from the reforms launched in 2002. This is reflected in the following ways:
    (1) the widespread use of teaching methods centred on learning, focused on problem-solving, group learning (case studies, project, problems, simulations) and individual work. This is developed in parallel with compulsory reading, theoretical guidelines and lectures;
    (2) continuous assessment and individual assessment (see assessment section below);
    (3) a compulsory work placement linked to writing a project-dissertation or a research dissertation in the framework of the research focus;
    (4) links with business throughout the teaching through the lecturers as well as participation by managers in classes and seminars.

  • The recent reforms in teaching methods have been much appreciated by students (according to a survey carried out by the University Teaching and Multimedia Institute (Institut de Pédagogie universitaire et de Multimedias) ; this has also been demonstrated by external auditors for the European Quality Improvement System (EQUIS) accreditation procedure.

Various methods of assessment are used in the programme :

  • continuous assessment of work/learning of each group of students (between 30% and 70% if individual assessment is satisfactory) : presentations in public, participation in debates, written reports ;

  • individual assessment of learning (between 40% and 70% of final mark) : test of knowledge, part of assignment/report, critical distance/group work, reading report.
