Aims
Thanks to thorough study of a work from Spain's "Golden Age" (16th and 17th centuries), the student is able, at the end of the course:
- to produce a rigorous personal analysis of the work in question,
- to show a critical attitude towards the various readings and interpretations already in existence.
Main themes
Thorough study of a literary work of the 16th or 17th century. The comment, attentive to textual problems and accompanied by linguistic remarks, relates as much to the aesthetics of the selected work as to its historical conditions and its ideological, ethnic, and/or philosophical issues.
Content and teaching methods
