Aims
To increase the knowledge of particular trends in French literature after 1945.
Main themes
- The course will examines this recent period and in chronological order, the different trends illustrated by the authors selected. These trends are characterised, broadly, by an interest in:
- either ethical issues (e.g., war or the development of science),
- aesthetic issues (the emergence of new genres, stylistic innovation),
- or theoretical issues (e.g., the discoveries of the social sciences, links to the other arts).
- Works are selected in a variety of genres (novels, poetry, theatre, and essays) and the influence of the past is indicated.
N.B.: The lecturer is encouraged to consult with other literature teachers in order to avoid duplication.
