Aims

- to present the main trends of research in clinical psychology and the related epistemologies
- to sensitize to the reading and critical analysis of the research literature in clinical psychology.

Main themes

- research process: raising the questions of research, integration of the questions in a given conceptual frame, building of an outline of observation or experimentation, outlines of research "n=1", gathering of the data, treatment and interpretation.
- link between "qualitative research" and "quantitative research"
- analysis of the research: according to the sample studied (from the controlled case study and the life telling to the epidemiological approach); according to the time (retrospective, transverse, prospective); according to the field (diagnosis, aetiology, intervention, evaluation); according to the material of observation (discursive facts, behaviours, psychological and psychophysiological tests, questionnaires, medical files, etc.)
- link between clinical practice, research and societal dynamics. Peculiarities of the research-action.
