Aims

By the end of the seminar, the student should be able to analyse one or more texts in ancient philosophy from a critical standpoint, to synthesise the different aspects of a thematic approach, and to apply the hermeneutical methods of this discipline.

Main themes

In-depth analysis of a text and/or of a specific question in ancient philosophy. Content varies each year depending on the lecturers' research

Seminar meetings will be supplemented by one or more study days bringing together international contributions to the subject under study.

Content and teaching methods

The theme varies from year to year. Active participation is requested of the students.

Assessment :
Assessment is based on seminar attendance and active participation, as well as on a paper dealing with the theme addressed during the seminar.

Texts to be analysed in the original and translation.
