Aims
The students should acquire the knowledge, the skills and know-how as well as the existential competence necessary to teach English as a foreign language.
Main themes
1.The goals and objectives of the teaching of English as a foreign language.
2. The description and illustration of approaches, aids and teaching/learning techniques in the field of English as a foreign language.
3. The conception and critical discussion of teaching/learning sequences (including formative and summative testing).
The first part (15 periods) consists in lectures, while the seminar part will take the form of workshops in which the students present lessons which are analyzed and discussed in connection with their teaching practice.
Content and teaching methods

Prerequisites : The students are asked to do some further readings (articles, manuals, internet sites, etc.).
Evaluation : The oral examination may consist in the oral presentation and discussion of a teaching/learning sequence, or in the oral presentation of a personal research paper on some of the issues tackled during the course.
Teaching materials : The course will take place in the audio-visual room (Collège Mercier.)
