Aims

- Observation of the Belgian territory, explanation of the observed phenomena and confrontation of this data with the theoretical models of space organisation.
- Evaluation of the interaction between human activity and natural environment.
- Analysis of the potential and ways of spatial development and evaluation of the spatial planning.

Main themes

" De la région naturelle au territoire vécu "
Field study of the Belgian regions following the points:
- Natural region: definition, delimitation, study of the natural environment, geomorphology.
- Human Adaptation to the environment: regional classic analysis.
- Human action over the environment: The role of the private agents and the spatial planning over the evolution of the studied space;
- Human Interaction with the environment: Study of the consequences of the human actions over the environment;
- From the natural region to the space project.
Analysis of several Belgian regions: geomorphology, human adaptation and space planning projects, as par example:
- le Pays de Herve : country project
- le Namurois (Ardenne Condruzienne, Condroz et Famenne) : urban sprawl in the Namur region, role of the Meuse as grouping agent
- Ardenne: landscape evolution
- Belgian Lorraine : cross-border project (economical development center)
- Campine.
