Aims
To acquire a thorough knowledge of the case law in this area.
Main themes
The course analyses the status of individuals within the European Union, especially the rights they enjoy and the protection they are granted in the EU system. As far as possible, the following topics are addressed: freedom of movement, right of establishment and provision of services (Art. 39-55 EC), European citizenship (Art. 17-2 EC), access to the Court (Art. 229-230, 232, 234-235, 238, 241 EC, as regards exclusively the right of action of individuals), human rights and equality (Art. 12-13 EC).
Content and teaching methods
The course should not consist exclusively of lectures. If necessary, it will be based on practical cases.
