Aims
At the end of the course, the student will be able to understand the pathological report written after macroscopic examination of a surgical specimen, microscopic analysis of a biopsy or a cytological specimen taken by a dentist or a stomatologist.
Main themes
Demonstration of the morphological aspects observed in pathologies affecting the mouth and tooth, as well as the surrounding tissues and organs. This will permit a better understanding of their pathogeny and their clinical expression.
Content and teaching methods
Content:
Pathology of salivary glands, lymph nodes and head and neck tumors. Illustration of metabolic lesions of bones. Initiation to the diagnosis of osseous and odontogenic tumors, as well as cysts and cystic lesions of the maxilla
Demonstration of the lesions affecting the tooth and the parodontis.
Methods:
Lectures with powerpoint support, followed by the analysis of microscopic slides illustrating the studied lesions

Needed notions : basic notions of general pathology, anatomy, histology, immunology and physiology
Evaluation : oral exam with written preparation of three lesions presented during the course
