Aims

Reading: The student:
- Can understand in detail straightforward and non complex factual texts about general topics relating to the field of
his/her study
- Can understand articles concerned with contemporary problems in which the writers adopt particular attitudes
or viewpoints
- Level B2 of the " Common European Framework of Reference of Languages "

Listening
. Individual :
- Can understand most of the recorded or broadcast audio material about general subjects or relating to the field of
his/her study provided the language is clear and in standard language and the presentation straightforward and
clearly organized
. Interactive :
- Can understand the main points of clear standard speech on familiar matters or matters relating to his/her field of
study
. Level B2 of the " Common European Framework of Reference of Languages "

Speaking
. Individual :
- Can present short descriptions of familiar subjects or subjects related to his/her field of study
. Interactive:
- Can interact with a degree of fluency and spontaneity that make regular interaction with native speakers quite
possible
. Level B2 of the " Common European Framework of Reference of Languages "

Writing
- Can write a very simple personal letter, a short note or a short resume
- Can write a short factual report integrating briefly a personal opinion
- Level B1 of the " Common European Framework of Reference of Languages "

Main themes

Code
Ability to master a wide range of vocabulary (revision of the 4000 basic words) and complex grammatical structures, especially those which cause problems to French speaking students.

Culture
Encouraging an awareness of the culture of German speaking countries takes place via all the skills

Methodology (main topics)
- The students will be encouraged to gradually improve their reading and listening skills, by means of authentic
documents (written and oral) on general topics or topics related to their field of study.
- Development of vocabulary in context (general as well as specific to their field of study) and consolidation of this
vocabulary by means of written and oral exercises (role plays, discussion, short presentations,... )

Content and teaching methods

ALLE 1331- German, intermediate level (part two)

- 2h per week during the whole academic year (3h per week for the students who took in Bac 1 ALLE 1130)
- Course for ECGE 12 BA, POL 12 - 3 ECTS

Prerequisites: Minimum level reached: B1 of the CEFR or ALLE 1330 course or an equivalent.

Objectives:
level B2 of the CEFR (speaking, listening and oral expression), level B1 (writing)

Methods and content:
- extension and consolidation of the vocabulary and grammar structures
- listening and reading exercises
- oral exercises (individual and interactive)
- written exercises
- activities and texts about general topics and topics related to the field of study

Evaluation: autoevaluative tests, written and oral exam

Prerequisites
Minimum level: the student must have reached: B1 of the " Common European Framework of Reference of Languages " or have done the course ALLE 1330 or an equivalent course.Students who took the elementary course last year must take another 30 hour course( and complete supplementary self study/homework tasks of 15h) in order to achieve the level B1. No credits are given to these supplementary hours.(cfr. Decret of Bologna of the CFB)

Workload
- Attendance : 48 hours (+24 hours for students who need to take the supplementary course)
- Home work and self study: 24 (+15 hours. for students who need to take the supplementary course)

Group of 25 students maximum

The teacher is available during her office hours and can be contacted by email
