Aims
Introduction to the systemic familial therapy.
At the end of this course, the students
- will be familiarized with the systemic perspective of the transmittals and repetitions in the families
- will be able to have a critical but positive look towards the various models of psychotherapies.
Main themes
- Summary of the basic concepts : theory of communication and general theory of the systems
- Familial fates and myths, distribution of the roles and powers
- Systemic reading of some psychiatric and medical affections (asthma, mental anorexia
) evidencing the psychological and relational implications
- Reflection on the relations between autonomy and belonging, freedom and determinism in the frame of a therapeutic relation
Content and teaching methods
After a general introduction including the concepts of pathology, of normality, of symptom, of trauma and of phantasm, other points will be considered from the particular point of view of family, couple and sexuality :
- some of the main neuroses (hysteria and obsessive disorders), psychoses (schizophrenia) and perversions (principally sadomasochism)
- some specific sexual and familial pathologies : impotences, mistreatments and incest acting-out.
Methods:
The theoretical notions will be developed from clinical cases presented as reports of cases, video recordings or transcription of interviews.
