Aims
At the end of the course, the student should have:
- a global and historic knowledge of the literature production in Spain from its origin till the XVII century. She/He should be able to place the most important works in their historical and literary context and should also be able to interpretate these works on the basis of a literary comprehension and in a intertextual perspective.
Main themes
The course presents the main literary genres and movements from its origin till XVII century, while focussing on major works and their presence in the future tradition of the Spanish literature.
Content and teaching methods
The Ex cathedra courses and presentations of the main genres (medieval epic poetry, lyric poetry of the Renaissance, etc) will alternate with comments on extracts or on complete works, where the active participation of the students is required.

-Prerequisites : Intermeidate level of Spanish
Evaluation : Written exam in Spanish.
Teaching materials : Didactic hand-outs at each session. Texts (anthology of texts or complete works) and icons. Reference manua.
