Aims

- Analysis of the linguistic and cultural situation of young people of immigrant origin;
- Understanding the most common errors made by these students that are connected to the language/culture of their origins;
- arrange for possible transfers of tools for teaching French as a foreign or second language (FLE/S) and as a teaching language;
- Developing methods for teaching in a multicultural context.

- Assess the impact of language on school results and introduce heuristic tools ;
- Develop methods for teaching French in a multicultural context.

Content and teaching methods

The linguistic and cultural situation of young people of immigrant origin is investigated. The impact of language on school results is considered and heuristic tools are introduced. Methods for teaching French in a multicultural context are developed.

Additional information (Prerequisite, Evaluation, Course materials

Prerequisite: this course is linked to the course in French linguistics applied to teaching French as a foreign language (ROM 2461) and to the course in teaching methods for French as a foreign language (ROM 2315). Both ROM2461 and ROM2315 are prerequisites.

Evaluation: oral examination.
Staff: It is expected that the course will be given jointly by a linguist and an expert on teaching methods.
