Aims
The student has to know who the important writers of this literature are, but must also be able to situate them in the global area of the French-speaking countries.
Main themes
The notion of French-speaking countries is the subject of a critical reflection. This reflection is to be applied on both the relation with the French language and on the periodisation (each considered literature is specifically linked to the chronological line).
Content and teaching methods
The course gives an overview of literature in French of Switzerland, Canada, Africa and the West Indies. It also contains some isolated authors that are part of the literature in French, in spite of their foreign origin. Great attention is paid to the regionalism issues.
Other information (prerequisite, evaluation (assessment methods), course materials recommended readings, ...)
Evaluation : Exam on the general outline(s) of the course and oral presentation.
