Aims
At the end of this activity, the student will be able
- to deal with any question about old Jewish history;
- to read old Jewish literature
- to understand the main hermeneutical process used in this kind of literature.
Main themes
These objectives will be achieved after a presentation of:
- old Jewish literature texts (Qumran, Pseudepigraphs, Targums, Midrash, Mishna, Talmuds)
- the historical context in which this literature was produced
- rabbinic text interpretation methods.

Special attention will be drawn towards rabbinic text interpretation methods.
