Aims

The seminar is a complement to the integrated teaching of general adult psychiatry during MED 21. It should expand the knowledge of the student concerning the most current problems of diagnose and treatment.
This seminar is recommanded for the preparation of the admission board for Psychiatry

Main themes

A clinical case relevant to general adult psychiatry is explained and discussed by one of the titulars. Also students are invited to present case studies from their internship. They will be helped by a titular to prepare their presentation. The temes vary from year to year: hysteria,paranoia,modern approaches to the treatment of acute schizophrenia,case of addiction to alcohol,treatment of heroïn-addiction...

Other information (prerequisite, evaluation (assessment methods), course materials recommended readings, ...)

Every cession lasts One hour and a half. The case study should not be longer than 45 min. in order to permit a general discussion.
If the student has prepared and presented a case study,this is considered to be the examination. The others students should read a book or a few articles on a focused theme in adult psychiatry and discuss it orally with a titular.
