Aims
- to develop a transcultural reference frame allowing the psychology students to position the theories and practices studied during their cursus.
- to supply a coherent survey of the major themes constituting the main currents of the anthropological thinking.
Main themes
- critical presentation of the main current methods in anthropological research
- definition of basic concepts such as "culture", "system", "social relationships", "acculturation", "participating observation"... while developing synchronic (intercultural comparisons) and diachronic (intracultural comparisons along time) reference frame.
- accross illustrative themes (ex : family, death, madness), development of 4 main issues:
a) the cultural diversity and its nature
b) the cultural causality and assessment as unyielding sizes of man
c) the relationship between the cultural and the psychic
d) how these major themes have been considered by various schools.
