Aims

At the end of the class, students should be able to
- Distinguish strategic, tactic and operational problems in supply chain management.
- Understand the impact, feasibility and limitations of selected inventory policies in supply chains.
- Understand the importance of information integration in supply chains.

Main themes

The course addresses the inter-organizational coordination modes, transportation and logistics tools and the strategic scope of network location decisions involved in supply chain management.

Content and teaching methods

Content
The course addresses the inter-organizational coordination modes, transportation and logistics tools and the strategic scope of network location decisions involved in supply chain management. The analysis draws on strategic management, industrial organisation and operations management to enable in-depth studies of the implementation of supply chain strategies in international contexts.

Methods
The learning in the class is supported by three pedagogical modes. The lectures and the literature give the focus, the conceptual overview and the some necessary tools for supply chain management. The interactive cases provide hands-on experience with decision problems in their context. The term project, finally, provides the participants with an opportunity to empirically study, analyze and discuss how supply chain management is conducted in a real-life enterprise
