Aims
Introduce students to the requisite industrial approach to a successful investment. Clarify the transition between industry and universities by confronting students with the basic aspects of their future industrial environment.
Main themes
This course examines the various issues involved in a successful industrial investment (or project), from marketing analysis and credit allocation to final acceptance. The Belgian environment is taken as reference and the investment is aimed at widespread exportation.
Content and teaching methods
The contents of this course adapts to the rapid evolution of methodologies implemented to optimize exportation investments.
The latter optimization relates to : costs, quality, deadlines.
The seminar as such is based on a factual industrial scenario.
The following points are examined:
- Definition of engineering
- Investment sources (methodology, O.B.C.E, commercial prospects)
- Financial engineering
- Investment specifications and their fulfilment
- Contact negotiating, types of contacts
- Budgets and mastering them
- Deadline control (PERT, GANTT)
The following topics are also examined
- Matrix organization
- The impact of computers on engineering: CAO
- Scale models techniques
The seminar takes into account the influence of Belgium's federal structure and provides conformation on the ISO system as well as aids to investment.
