Reading skills:
The student can read short, simple texts. He/she can find predictable information in simple everyday material such as advertisements, menus and timetables. He/she can understand short, simple personal letters as well as the description of simple events, feelings and wishes.

Listening skills:
The student can understand phrases and the highest frequency vocabulary related to areas of most immediate personal relevance (e.g. very basic personal and family information, shopping, local geography, employment). He/she can catch the main points in short, clear, simple messages and announcements.

- Spoken production:
The student can use a series of phrases and sentences to describe in simple terms his family and other people, living conditions, his educational background and his present or most recent job. He/she can connect phrases in a simple way in order to describe experiences, events, dreams and plans. He/she can briefly give reasons and explanations for opinions and plans.
- Spoken interaction:
The student can communicate in simple and routine tasks requiring a simple and direct exchange of information on familiar topics and activities. He/she can handle very short social exchanges on familiar or personal topics or relevant to everyday life (family, hobbies, work, travel).

Writing skills:
The student can fill in forms with personal details, for example entering his/her name, nationality and address on a hotel registration form. He/she can write short, simple notes and messages relating to matters in areas of immediate need. He/she can write a postcard or a very simple personal letter.

Content and teaching methods
Code: ITAL 1100 A- Italian for beginners
Rhythm: a 45-hour course (3 hours/week) during the 2nd semester of the academic year.
Public: This course is part of ITAL 1100. This code is especially intended for students of ROGE11BA.
Credits (ECTS): ROGE11BA - 4 credits
Requirements: In the first semester the student must have followed the course FLTR 1750.
Objectives: to attain level A2 of the Common European Framework of Reference.
Method and content:
- Phonetics and listening comprehension in the language lab
- Grammar and vocabulary exercises
- reading comprehension activities
- Activities to develop spoken skills, both individual and interactive
- Simple activities to develop basic writing skills.
Assessment:
Written and oral exam in May/June or September). Continuous assessment based on the student's participation in class activities.

This course is part of ITAL 1100. This code is especially intended for students of ROGE11BA.
The course is mainly based on the notional-functional method and aims to develop oral skills as well as basic writing skills. Different activities are proposed: exercises on phonetics, basic vocabulary and grammar, simple writing activities and conversation, listening activities in the language lab, working in pairs or small groups.
