Aims
Good knowledge of the Hittite language. Be able to transcribe a cuneiform text, to use the dictionaries, the literary journals and collection quite well.
Main themes
Revision of the essential grammar points. Study of the important historical and religious texts dating mainly from the Hittite Empire. An introduction to hieroglyphic Hittite writing as well as a study of the seals are also planned. Transcription and translation exercises.
Content and teaching methods
Study of the important historical and religious texts dating mainly from the Hittite Empire. An introduction to hieroglyphic Hittite writing is also planned, with 15 hours of practical exercises.
Photocopied notes will be handed out to the students.

Prerequisite : Being initiated to the languages with cuneiform writing or having followed the courses GLOR 1611-1612 (GLOR 1812).
Evaluation : translation and comments on an unseen text.
Texts and books : photocopied notes will be handed out to the students.
