Part I: Ideas about the end of the "industrial society"
- Theories about the phases (or stages) of the development (particularly the economic development) of modern, contemporary societies)
- The birth of the concept of the information society
Part II: The information society as it is defined, described and promised
- The newly affirmed characteristics of the information society
- The information society testing facts (the 1980s)
Part III: Towards a provisional conclusion; hypotheses on what there will be 15-20 years hence
