Main themes

This course aims to deal with a question that arises out of Christian faith. Basically, it is a human sciences course in the sense that, like all human science, it can also help humans to have a better understanding of themselves and, in this course, by confronting people with the big questions that have always animated humankind.

Content and teaching methods

Modernity has been enriched through fruitful contacts between literature, art and spirituality. The works of novelists, poets and artists have all the hallmarks of a form of anxiety of transcendence.
By presenting writers who have witnessed a reflection that identifies a relationship with Christianity (e.g. through an evocation of figures from the bible or the gospels), the course will propose an approach to the Christian faith that will take account of contemporary culture.
Students will be invited, on the basis of the talk and a reading portfolio, to think about the relationship between literature and spirituality by themselves.
