Aims
In-depth study of all questions relating to intellectual property rights.
Main themes
The course consists of three parts:
1. First part:
- the patent system (Belgian and European);
- protection of know-how and trade secrets.
2. Second part:
- copyright (Belgian and international);
- protection of computer programs;
- protection of integrated circuits;
- design protection.
3. Third part:
- trademark law (Benelux and European);
- protection of trade names and company names;
- protection of indications of origin.
The relevant provisions of European and international law are also covered.
Content and teaching methods
Oral explanation by the teacher, laying down the concepts and rules of intellectual property and illustrating them by practical examples and case law. Students are invited to participate actively during the classes.
